DC Farmers Market xsHeld Amid Pandemic? WTF?

To paraphrase what classic New York Timesman 

Clyde Haberman  said to this reporter in a different context in 2004, what the fuck is this?? What the fuck is this??

 You presumably can't hold a farmers market  without obtaining some kind of permission form the District.  

Was the farmer's market held yesterday and  Sunday the Dupont Circle Metro stop  authorized in the middle of the pandemic? 

Or held without the knowledge of Mayor Muriel Bowser? \

 One of the stands was selling handmade beer..

If this reporter's understanding is correct the only businesses currently allowed to operate  in DC are those providing essential services and goods. 

Is selling handmade beer an essential service? Somebody else was selling plants. Are plants an essential service. Plus, all the stands were crammed together. Didn't seem very amenable to social distancing.
